Here´s a simple practise routine that will help you become a proficient guitar player in record time:
1. Spend 5 minutes only naming notes all over the fretboard.
2. Spend 5 minutes playing chords as well as strumming or picking.
3. Spend 5 minutes practising scales.
4. Spend 5 minutes practising your playing techniques as well as lead licks.
5. Spend 10 minutes playing something you really like or learning a new piece.
That´s a sum of just 30 minutes each day. Nowhere near long enough to get bored but powerful enough to get everything to stay in your head so that you can summon it up and utilize it at will anytime you need, for instance when improvising a lead solo.
A regular and consistent practise routine is vital to speeding up the learning process, since the brain only learns by repetition.
As a guitar teacher, I see this constantly. My best students are those who practise a consistent routine.
