I can remember (too many years) back when a good calisthenics program was considered the best way to get into shape and stay in shape. Now it seems that calisthenics are simply used as warm up before you start doing the real exercises. I must admit there seems to be more great physiques today then forty or fifty years ago all you have to do is look at the movies and how the actors look now as back in the “old days”.
The diet industry is a huge business with all of the diet pills and diet plans which are so numerous that I don’t think anyone has every counted them. I find it very hard to tried and keep track on which plan is the “Plan of the month” this month. It seems that every month or so, some new more scientific plan diet has come out with a lot of dieters very diligently try and lose weigh. Then as fast as it came on the scene it fades away like so many fads of the past. I had even thought of starting a diet plan of my own, but my wife said hamburgers and French fries was not a diet that led to lose weight but you will certainly gain weight. I guess that is why my clothes keep shrinking on me.
I have found a site where they talk about weight loss, exercise programs and a discussion about five fat loss myths. I thought this maybe interesting so I read them and the author really does make sense in what he wrote. The five myths they challenge are:
You have to do cardio in the morning on an empty stomach to burn fat.
You have to do cardio in the fat burning zone.
You have to do cardio seven days a week.
You have to do cardio for at least 20 minutes before you start burning fat.
You can’t lose fat and gain muscle at the same time.
This last myth is really messed up, who ever started this rumor has never worked in a gym before. I have personally see it while working as an athletic specialist in the Air Force. So if one of these myths what about the rest of them?
This training program is based on short bursts of exercise instead of long consistent approach that running provides. I don’t know about you but, I never was into running for the sake of running. Now if its a basketball game or racquetball that is different, but I just get too bored just running mile after mile.
If you are of the same mind set that I am who may want to try this exercise program. They will teach you how these five myths are not accurate they will have you in a better body than you have now. You may even find that their program is actually not as dull as just plain old cardio.
