By the time it is discovered to have failed, it is often too late to determine the correct level.
This condition requires a solution. All dirty sight glasses must be rendered useful immediately. However, makers of sight glasses persuade plants to replace rather than clean dirty sight glasses. This is a costly situation for most plants. But cleaning sight glasses is a more cost effective alternative to replacing them. The cost of replacing a sight glass is many times the cost of cleaning them. This is a serious cost reduction in sight glass maintenance.
Maintenance of sight glasses is crucial to a safe working environment. Any good maintenance program must require these instruments be maintained properly. Without a maintenance schedule these instruments will naturally fail to perform their needed function. In addition, a scheduled period must be established to insure the functionality.
