Photography is my business

I was at was at a wedding in June of last year, and what caught my attention was the photographer snapping picture of everything going on. filing into the church in their fine dresses and dapper suits, photographer seem to not notice anything around him, accepted the shot he had line up in the sight of his camera. This photographer was thinking on his feet, as he was placing people in certain places, with different poses that probably will be memorable years to come. I was thinking, what a nice way of making a living taking picture for other, and being in control of your destiny. I went up to the camera man and asked, how I could get into the photography business, he said that I should first get a book on photography, then find a school giving a course on this subject, get a camera and picture of anything and everything to developed your eye.

I went to a pawn shop and bought a used 35mm camera for 100 dollars, and started taking picture of my family first. I can remember my mother hiding her face the first time I tried to take her picture, my hair is not done yet she said, as she quickly left the room covering her face and head. My father just sat there in the living room reading the news paper, as I caught him by surprised with the flash of my camera. All my brothers and sisters just huddled around me trying to get in every shot that I took.

Once I started taking pictures, I realized that I had to get to know what the gauges were around the lens of my camera, if I wanted to become good at photography. At the time I could not afford to take classes for my new found interest, so I went to the library and took out books on the subject and learn that way. There were a lot of things, I had no idea that a photographer had to know to take a good pictures. The book taught me about aperture, foreground, background, shutter speed, sunlight and flash. This may sound like a lot to learn just to take a picture, but if you want to do this professionally that the road you have to travel.

Three I got my first professional gig, taking pictures at a one year old birthday party. At first I thought this was a piece of cake to handle, but after all the aunts and uncles started arriving with their children, and everybody is looking for you for direction, on how the pictures taking should be setup, changed my feeling about this gig being a piece of cake. I made it through without to many amateur mistakes. Today I still take pictures professionally but only on a part time basis, because once the word of mouth about my picture taking got around, and my work seem to make people satisfied, my business grow very quickly. Working part time still gave me enough monetary gain, and still has time for my own personal life. Like they say, a perfect picture can say a thousand words.

I am a 52 years old man that likes to write about interesting thing on the web. I have a professioal hobby of taking pictures in my spare time.
