Once you earn respect from your first wedding couple, that respect grows as they tell their friends and families about you. I´ve never seen someone looking at wedding pictures and not ask “Who was your photographer?”
Often time´s friends are around the same age, and the newly married friends have many single friends that will use you for their wedding. Then they tell their friends and the list grows and grows and soon you have a successful photography career.
As a bonus, you become completely self sufficient and rely on your own work and effort for your choice of life.
Are you wondering if you can be successful in wedding photography? Many of the portfolios you see online are filled with great shots but remember that these people had to start somewhere. They had to build their portfolio and now have their shots that will keep the business coming in.
As long as you can learn to always produce well exposed and well composed images that tell the story of the day, you are on the right track. And that just it, you have to learn. There are tricks to every trade and all of those tricks have to be learnt and applied.
The best focal point, background, where and what angle you take the picture from, the best light to use, and so on and so forth. You may already naturally take good pictures but why not learn to take those pictures that make people´s jaws drop open. The pictures that will bring people lots of joy or make you serious money.
There are so many benefits to doing photography as well. You can go anywhere in the world. You don´t have to stay in one place if you don´t want to. Photography is a worldwide pastime and there will never be a shortage of pictures to take.
You are running your own business and make your own rules. Of course with an independent business people tend to put in more hours and commitment into it because the more effort they put in the more money they will receive, but if you´re passionate about it and it feels more like a fun event rather than a job. When you´re having fun and getting paid how can you go wrong? I firmly believe that´s what we should all aspire to. Doing what we love and makes us enormously happy.
So if you feel that wedding photography would make you happy than go for it! The effort you put in will assure you your success.
